Hey Big Bird,

Look at it this way, you have a custom made version of JAWS. Look at the
silver lining dude !

Well, we're experiencing different things, then. Because that bell doesn't
go off when I reach the top or bottom of a list view, for example the list
of messages in my OE Inbox. Only at the top or bottom of some screens. But
it's okay. At least on my system, Jaws 8 does so many peculiar and
troublesome things that I don't expect anything about it to be particularly
consistent from user to user.

It's not the email window that I was referring to, but rather the list view
in both OE and Windows Explorer. Tree views as well. Anything where a list
is involved really. It's when you get to the top or bottom of a list view
that it happens.

That's interesting. My Jaws 8 makes that beeping sound when I hit the top
or
bottom of a screen in, let's see... Open Book, and that's about it. It
doesn't happened when I'm navigating up and down within an open and fully
maximized (for what that might matter) email, such as yours, nor does it
happen when I hit the top or bottom of a Web page, nor in a Word document.

No wonder I'm not complaining. I use Open Book less than all my other
  applications. Just thinking aloud.

  I myself find that helpful.

To know I have gone to the bottom of my e mail.

This is likely a stupid question...

In JAWS 8, there is a system beep whenever you hit the top or bottom of
a
list, which is different from all of the prior JAWS releases.

I really do find this annoying though, not least because of the time
delay
required to trigger the event and load the sound file. (Yes, it's only a
fraction of a second, but it's still annoying when it wasn't there
before.)
and I would like to somehow return the behavior back to silence, or my
personal favorite in OE ("top of window").

I haven't been able to determine if there is a setting that can control
this, or if there is a script reference in the Default script file that
triggers this. Any ideas? Hopefully it's one of these, since it would then
be easy to fix. Otherwise, it might be hard coded, and it would be an
  uncorrectable annoyance.

    Thanks for any input,

    Bryan Garaventa
