It's not the email window that I was referring to, but rather the list view in both OE and Windows Explorer. Tree views as well. Anything where a list is involved really. It's when you get to the top or bottom of a list view that it happens. ----- Original Message ----- From: Yardbird To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, February 06, 2007 12:34 PM Subject: Re: JAWS Beep at top/bottom of lists That's interesting. My Jaws 8 makes that beeping sound when I hit the top or bottom of a screen in, let's see... Open Book, and that's about it. It doesn't happened when I'm navigating up and down within an open and fully maximized (for what that might matter) email, such as yours, nor does it happen when I hit the top or bottom of a Web page, nor in a Word document. No wonder I'm not complaining. I use Open Book less than all my other applications. Just thinking aloud. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Devona Abel" <djasister@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, February 06, 2007 12:28 PM Subject: Re: JAWS Beep at top/bottom of lists I myself find that helpful. To know I have gone to the bottom of my e mail. In JAWS 8, there is a system beep whenever you hit the top or bottom of a list, which is different from all of the prior JAWS releases. I really do find this annoying though, not least because of the time delay required to trigger the event and load the sound file. (Yes, it's only a fraction of a second, but it's still annoying when it wasn't there before.) and I would like to somehow return the behavior back to silence, or my personal favorite in OE ("top of window"). I haven't been able to determine if there is a setting that can control this, or if there is a script reference in the Default script file that triggers this. Any ideas? Hopefully it's one of these, since it would then be easy to fix. Otherwise, it might be hard coded, and it would be an uncorrectable annoyance.
