no. The two things are, I think,  related in terms of the distribution 
technology, but no, it isn't the same thing. if you sign up to receive feeds 
like new headlines from your favorite online journals, for instance, you do 
that in a different way, using a different application or browser function. 
I'm speaking only of podcasts.
