I can't say for sure as no sighted person was with me when I had the
problem, but I strongly doubt that there was a pop-up involved.
(If I get the time, I'll try to replicate the problem and advise if
otherwise)

Peter,

I do find that good information to know. So the "clear" was indeed a
pop-up message that may have emanated from your System Tray?

Dave

If anyone cares or would find this useful, I discovered the cause of my
problem described below.

As with Dale's situation, my system also uses a wireless keyboard. And
the problem was due to an incorrect install of the hardware. It's like
this.

The wireless keyboard receiver has both a PS2 and USB connecter. When I
initially installed the keyboard receiver into my system, I only plugged
in the USB plug. But, some time later, some "helpful" person also
plugged in the PS2 connecter. Once I realized this and unplugged the PS2
connecter and left only the USB connector the problem completely went
away.

HTH.

What is on your system tray or task bar?

Thanks,
