Ah yes, but that was before the wonderful convenience of square brackets =
and brace brackets and angle brackets and the tilde characters and when =
the quotation and apostrophe keys could be found on the top row and no =
one had any use at all for an asterisk, vertical bar or back slash. I =
remember it well! Ribbons which faded into oblivion or tangled, getting =
the red side up, when people used tabs for their intended purpose rather =
than tables. You have to love modern technology, it is such an =
improvement.

Mind you, putting a title and name on the bottom of a cover sheet was a =
lot less complicated back then.
