Bruce has fought AVG for sometime. As a user of AVG user for years I will be one of the first to aruge against hem. My son who is a programmer for one of the larger companies in the company will be the first to advise AVG. We have both used AVG for 12 years and haven't had any problems with virtuses. Many of the other programmers that I know will be the first to advise AVG over many other Virus protectors.

Bruce, On what basis do you say such a dismissive thing about AVG? For my part, I've been using AVG Free Edition for years, and a few times It's caught a stray virus, which I appreciated, and the rest of the time I've had no problems at all, allowing it to scan each morning and do its automatic online update. I don't think it's fair to just bum-rap the product likethat, without offering evidence that it's not worth anything to the user. Ifyou don't like it, take the time to explain how you know it's a hazard to people who use it, or however you feel about it.----- Original Message ----- From: "Bruce Toews" <DogRiver@xxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, February 03, 2007 9:24 AM Subject: RE: Inaccessible AVG update message I believe AVG to be very untrustworthy under the best of circumstances, so this becomes doubly important. bruce -- Bruce Toews Skype ID: o.canada E-mail and MSN/Windows Messenger: DogRiver@xxxxxxxx LiveJournal: http://brucetola.livejournal.com Radio Show and Podcast: http://www.totw.net Web Site (including info on my weekly commentaries): http://www.ogts.net Info on the Best TV Show of All Time: http://www.cornergas.com On Sat, 3 Feb 2007, Chris Skarstad wrote:I completely agree! It is not wise to keep your antivirus program out of date, with all theviruses around, you're liable to be caught if you're definitions aren't upto date. Besides, AVG 7.5 is completely screen-reader friendly, so you're actually doing yourself a disservice by not upgrading. At 09:55 AM 2/3/2007, you wrote:You may not be getting the updates. A sighted person was able to readthe message contents, and told me it was about support for AVG ending on a particular date, and that I needed to upgrade to AVG 7.5. I think the date was supposed to be January 15. That date has come and gone, yet I am still getting weekly virus definition updates, and that message about my older version of AVG expiring is still popping up once each week. If I download the free version of AVG 7.5 and install it, will it use my earlier configuration settings for AVG?
