 Focus on the files. When done, alt enter shortcut to access properties.
Press tab till you hear, hidden checkbox not checked. Then check it to hide

I have XP and 6.0.
 
Is there a way to keep personal files hidden in "Word", so others  using the
computer can not view them?
 
Explicit instructions would be greatly appreciated.
