I want the headers to run consecutively on each page. That is, to just type
the header at the start and it to follow on. Can this be done?
I have seen headers in the View menu, but am not sure how I would turn it
off.

Ron,
Look in the view menu, for "Headers and footers". It brings up a template of
sort and you fill it in. Then turn it off again.
