Hi John,
There is indeed a solution to this problem, but it has nothing to do with JAWS.
You need to use Mozilla Firefox 3 as your web browser and download an
extension called Webvisam which adds automatic capture of the characters that
appear in an on-screen graphic image. The way this works is that when you
encounter a forms field that requires the insertion of a character string from
an on-screen graphic, you press Alt + Control + 6 and Webvisam automatically
saves the character string to the clipboard. You can then paste it into the
edit field. But Firefox still has some quirks with JAWS, so I would recommend
using it for special purposes like image capture and continuing to use Internet
Explorer as your primary browser. You can use both side by side without any
problem. The links for Firefox 3 and Webvisam are listed below:

Subject: Graphics Question
I am sure that many of you have encountered the type the letters you see in
the graphic dilemma when signing up for a website. I don't know if there is a
way for FS to address this in an upcoming version of JAWS but it would really
be nice. Does anyone know of a way around this problem?
I frequently find that the audio version is dreadful.
Take care,
John
