Getting Control of my mailbox

Using Outlook 5 and JFW 4 5.  Trying to learn how to sort my mesages by 
threads.  So, when  I get them sorted, which I think I've figured out, how do I 
delete an entire thread?  My fear is that I'll wipe out my entire in box, in 
the process.  
incidently, I've attempted to go to JAWS Help, by doing Insert F 1 twice, while 
in the view area, but it doesn't bring up any specific help for this.
Would appreciate tips on this.
