I didn't mean it was some sort of semantic distinction. I literally meant
that unless opening an email and pressing Insert down arrow are both
recognized in the programming as initiating what the program, not you,
defines as Say All conditions, then the behavior will occur only with the
key press. I swear, I know that automatic hands-off reading such as you're
talking about in email seems just like what happens when you press insert
down arrow, but I'm sure that doesn't mean the two things are equated
within
the Jaws programming. Maybe someone who's better based in programming
could
explain this better than I seem to have. I wasn't making some sort of
conversational comparison, saying that the two results--reading
automatically--didn't seem so alike as you feel them to be. Sure, the
effect
is the same, the way you're thinking. But that doesn't mean that the
programming of Jaws sees these two occasions as related, at all. Sorry if
I
was unclear.
As for performance, well, it's not as if the SAPI 5 voices don't work. I
don't know what you mean. I'm running a Pentium 4 PC with 512 Mmegs of
RAM,
and I think that ought to be quite enough, from what FS says. I didn't say
they don't speak well or anything, or that they slow down my computer,, or
whatever it is that was intended. I really don't like how they render
reading flow, emphasis, response to punctuation (I am not saying *amount*
of
punctuation, please understand, I do *not* mean something to do with Jaws
verbosity). The effect is not agreeable to me at all, and sounds even
stranger than Eloquence's Reed and his more artificial voice, because Reed
sounds more normal in the flow of his prose reading than these voices do.
To
me, they all sound like human beings with something awfully the matter
with
them neurologically, or maybe on drugs that confuse their ability to read.
It's very weird, and I happily went back entirely to good old Reed.
As I say, even though Karen sounded from her reading performance as if she
had some problems, maybe arising from undiagnosed aphasia or a drug
problem,
I'd be more than willing to nurse and counsel her back to full health and
functionality if only I knew where to send her a fan email and some
flowers.
So it's not as if I'm simply prejudiced against all these SAPI people.
Although I hate calling them "sappy," an old-fashioned American slang way
of
calling them silly fools or dummies. I confess I really dislike the flat
accents of the American voices, which make me feel I'm trapped in a huge
shopping mall somewhere between Omaha and Cleveland, where I was born. But
then I'm a coastal big city person, and prefer other accents, not theirs.
But enough. This flu has me being a little silly. I'm surprised I can
remember how to type.

Either way, whatever anybody wants to call it, I would like it.
As for the performance of the voices, I'm more than happy with using
RealSpeak voices all of the time, but I realise it's a lot down to the
performance of your PC and what you like.

but I think there's something about definition involved here. Just
because
Jaws is designed to read an email in a seamless, hands off mode when you
open an email doesn't mean that this function really falls under "Say
All"
in the sense that pertains. Meaning, it's not initiated by your pressing
Insert Down Arrow.
Something to think about.

Though I have never used it, the graphics labeler is insert G. Check in
Jaws help for instructions if you get anywhere.
You might be able to set place markers with control K for temporary or
shift control K for more than one. Once they are done, Just plunking K
will let you circulate among them.

good sized graphics up in the left hand corner. These are Read, send

Now I do have some sight but its still hard for me to click the right
thing, so want to know two things?
1. How do you set up a way for Jaws to read the graphics? I think I
know
how but...
2. I need to set up a hot key that will automatically move or jump to
one
or two of those graphics.
Lets say I want to send something, I want to just use a key stroke to
land on Sen, or on Write, then I'll hit enter to complete the work.
I only use the Read and Send graphics up there, so only need two set
ups.
Is there a way to do this?
