it tries to connect to the net but nothing bad happens if it does not but
the next time it gets access to the net if it ever does, I think it gets
what it needs.  I'll see if I can find anything on the fs web site about
this.

yes, microsoft has some stuff that jaws needs so microsoft generates this
connection.

That's very interesting.  I wonder why it would want to send some ICMP
packets?  Wonder if this may be a means of FS tracking some statistical data
of some kind?  Possibly each copy of JFW generates a GUID at install-time?
