Here's a dialog I had with the FS team regarding an issue with Jaws 12 and a Focus display. The issue has to do with disabling spacemarkers in MSWord. I tried their suggestions but none of them worked. As explained below, the keystroke suggested is an office keystroke, and to check the Word Help system if the shortcut doesn't work. I went to Help and entered "spacemarkers" in the search box, but evidently it was not found. Do you have any suggestions?

Tech Support... Disabled Items...Do I need to update to Word 2007 or something? This may be more advanced or not as accessible with Jaws. Or should I just use Jaws 11 for Word and the Focus? Please read all the messages below to get an ide of the actual issue. Thanks.

However, in Word the controlingshifting8 didn't turn off spacemarkers or do anything else. A good thing I discovered is being able to enter text into a document or email in contracted Braille on the Focus with Jaws 12. Do you have any further thoughts about the controlingshifting8 command and why it's not working on my end? Thanks. such as spacemarkers (represented by braille semicolons) between words in MS Word; I'd rather read text with real spaces between words, not symbols that appear like contractions or punctuation creating a mess of text with no space between words. different operations of the Focus braille keyboard between Jaws 11 and 12. Please tell me what I can changein Jaws 12 so the Focus will behave like it did in Jaws 11 (as far as reading text in Word with clear spaces between words instead of semicolons or lower b's). Thanksfor your patience as I work out the different snags and minor variations. Douglas Richard Dexheimer Chief of Braille Production Born Again Productions Friedman Place Room #308 5527 N.
