doesn't these list softwares have a way for list admins to filter out fw's? I mean, in the event a forward needs to be sent, the user can just take the fw: out. It should be obvius when a message is forwarded for something like jfw release notes , if there is a message below, if you know what I mean. Maybe not totaly outright stopping fw's, maybe just denying fw's without jfw, jaws , etc in the subject line ; a list of keywords if present, the fw: goes to the list. I mean, the fw that was recent was 100 percent not for the list, and there were no words that make it for the list.
Just a suggestion, don't blow ma head off! brandon http//vitech.randylaptop.com msn: serrebitranceaddict@xxxxxxxxxxx skype: serrebi2006 mercora page: http://radio2-0.com/page/serrebi101----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Skarstad" <toonhead@xxxxxxxxxx>

HiTo put it quite shortly, I think people who send these forwards feel it necessary to send them to everyone in their address book, and unfortunately, when they do this, the lists they're subscribed to get these forwards sent to them. The way I see it there are 2 solutions to the problem. 1. Only send the forward to people you *really* think would appreciate it, it keeps people who don't want them happier. or 2. Remove the e-mail list addresses from your address books, so that just in case you do mess up and send it to everyone, none of the lists have to get it. Not only is it bad to send these things to lists they don't even pertain too, it's even worse because incorrect info is still being spread.Think before sending. At 01:59 PM 9/17/2007, you wrote:Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought this list was not meant for forwards that did not pertain to JAWS? Did I miss something? If I am wrong I will admit to it. Don't get me wrong. Forwards have their place in this world, as does most everything else. However, unless the administrator(s) of this list have decided to allow forwards of a non-JAWS nature to be submitted, I sincerely doubt this is the proper forum to post such forwards. While yes this is a forward that I have seen circulate the net in recent months, and while I also question the validity of the story mentioned alledgedly being true, I think we all need to remember this is not the place to send them. If you want to send them off list to people that's one thing. I for one don't mind receiving forwards in my in box. I have a separate e-mail account that forwards and such are automatically sent to. But there might be others out there who don't wish to read things of a non-JAWS nature on what is specifically a JAWS list. And further still there may be those who don't wish to read forwards at all. Not everyone has cable connections, and from what I know of some of the dial-up or other services that are not high speed, some people may only have limited times in which they are able to access the internet/read their e-mail. This may also be true for those who use library computers or computers in schools. Several of these facilities are now resorting to placing monitoring software on their networks in order to ensure nothing inappropriate is viewed/. This is also true for some companies/state or governmental facilities/agencies. Maybe not all facilities are doing so, but I know for example there are universities and other state/governmental facilities here in the state of New York that have such software on their networks/machines. While I'm not trying to come down on anyone in particular, I hope that my advice is taken for just that, advice and not as criticism. Thanks in advance for reading this.
