I switched back to Version 10 and forms mode works normally. So it must be

  I just had a thought.  Did you check your verboscity settings?  If " sounds " 
is turned off under Forms Mode there that could explain why your sounds aren't 
working for opening & closing forms / edit fields.  Hope this helps.  Take care.
