Fixing JAWS and Windows Explore

Hello Everyone:
Wrote to Freedom Scientific about JAWS not  speaking the options under 
"Folder" in Windows explore (JAWS 6.1 and XP Home).  Since a lot of people 
seem to be having the same problem, I'm posting their response.  It worked 
for me.

Check the following settings.  After a couple of crashes and reinstalls, my 
technician failed to do so, and thus the problems:

Here is their response:

With Windows XP, we suggest using the Windows Classic menus.
Below are the suggested display settings that work best with Jaws.
Below are the suggested settings to optimize  Windows XP with Jaws.
1.  Press Control plus Escape or Windows Key to open the Start Menu.
2.  Press S for Settings and Enter on Control Panel. If the Switch to
Classic View button shows up, click this button to Switch to Classic
View.
3.  Press the letter D till you hear display and press Enter.
4. on the Themes Page:
Windows XP should be set to modified by default.
To change press alt plus down arrow to open
5.  Control Tab to the Desktop Tab
Set background to bliss
Set position  stretch 6.  Press Control Tab to Screen Saver
Set to none]
7.  Control Tab to Appearance Tab
Set  to Windows Classic Style
Color Scheme Windows Standard
Font Size Normal
8.  Tab to OK and press Enter

Suggestions for setting up folders in Windows XP:
1. Hold down the Windows key and press the letter M to get to the desktop.
2.  Press M for my computer and press Enter.
3. Press Alt plus t and down arrow to Folder Options and press Enter.
4.  When on the general tab, set tasks to use Windows Classic Folders.
Set to Open folders in the same Window.
5.  Tab to OK and press Enter.

To change the JAWS Default Configuration please do as follows:

1. Start Jaws.
2. Press the Windows Key +M  to get to the desktop.
3. Hold down Insert+F2 to open the Jaws  Managers.
4 Down arrow to Configuration Manager and press Enter.
5. Hold down the Control and Shift keys and press the letter D to open the 
Default Jaws Configuration Manager.
6. Press Alt+S and down arrow  to advanced and press Enter.
7. Tab to Rely on MSAA for List Views and press Spacebar to Check it. This 
is unchecked by default.
8. Tab to OK and press Enter.
9. Press Control+S to save the settings.
   10. Restart Jaws.
