Dean,
I'll wager it's a difference between the two versions of Word we're suing.  
Because there was nothing extraordinary about the length of my italicized 
material, one way or the other.

Also, I see another lister had the same problem of not being able to get past 
one find.

I can't replicate the problem described below, using Word 2003.  I 
wrote a short document with two italicized strings, used find to find 
the first one, then ctrl-pgdn to find the second one and found it 
successfully.  So either the length of the strings is the issue, or 
the later version of Word.
