I tried what Dave suggested, and it works. While in "say all," a press of the right shift key does, indeed, skip to the next line. Very useful. I wish I'd picked up on it long ago. Yardbird, I'm afraid no messages are more anger-provoking than yours. You should try to examine that as you lash out at other listers. ----- Original Message ----- From: Yardbird To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, August 14, 2009 2:22 PM Subject: Re: Facebook accessibility - Did you know Dave, could you please leave out the sarcasm and telling me what to do or not do. Thank you. Now please tell me what you mean by your message. I mean the right shift key. Tell me exactly what to do. So far, I'm reading either by down arrowing a line at a time, just because I want to do it that way sometimes, Dave, or using the Say All (Jaws key plus 8). Now please tell me how, using either of these methods, you want me to include the right shift key. Just exactly how. thank you. And don't tell me how to feel. I was civil your excortication wasn't civil. Very basic stuff, my man. Very basic. And if Dave doesn't wanna help me because he would rather be a bully , someone else tell me what he unmans about the drift key. Bless the gentle folk, thanks for everything, yadda yadda. Okay? Thanks. dowwan doewn ----- Original Message ----- From: Dave Carlson To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, August 14, 2009 11:15 AM Subject: Re: Facebook accessibility - Did you know Joel, quit complaining. JAWS has a solution. . Use the right shift button to skip lines as you read. Please, nobody tell me to hit escape or delete when I see Laura's name in my Inbox. What if I don't hate her? Okay? So let's forget that old saw. Thank you, beloved but sometimes short-fused folks. ----- Original Message ----- From: Laura Shumate To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, August 14, 2009 6:24 AM Subject: RE: Facebook accessibility - Did you know What kind of applications are you talking about? Does it work better for you than the regular, more graphical, site? I might have heard about it on this or another list, but at the time it filtered through that part of my brain that isn't being used unless it is really needed. <grin> Sue B. You can find it at: http://m.facebook.com As more people have asked in training about Facebook I've been trying to come up with instructions and quick ways to get places and such. I decided to read their help center to see if they mentioned anything about screen readers and sure enough they did! I sent this link on to a former client yesterday who said she'd been struggling with Facebook for weeks. I had a note back from her already this morning saying that she was able to find everything she'd been looking for on the regular site using this accessible version. It would be interesting to hear other feedback on this. Sue B.
