I've noticed that when just reading a document or an E-mail, jaws will stop quickly. But as mentioned in another post, when a web page is loading, you can have a touch time of getting jaws to stop wanting the whole web page. I know that there are times when the system can temporarily use more processor power, and running Jaws isn't top priority. So, maybe this plays into it. But I have Jaws6, also, and for instance, when I do a say all on your email message below, it reads until I hit Control, and that shuts it up immediately. That said, my old system developed a problem where every time I'd select a large amount of text in a Wordpad document file, Jaws would start reading the selected block of text and couldn't be shut up no matter what I did. I don't know what that was about, lacking the adequate tech savvy. but I know the frustration you're having. Hope someone can help you figure out what may be causing this. However, having said that, has anyone noticed how Jaws doesn't stop talking as quickly when you tap the control key? It seems to me that in past versions, you just hit the control key once, and Jaws stopped talking right away. Now, it may take5/10 seconds for jaws to stop talking. As I said, this isn't that big of a deal. I just wondered if anyone else had noticed this.
