I downloaded and installed Spell Checker for OE 2.1, and it works fine. Thanks. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ryan MacIsaac To: jfw@freelists .org Sent: Thursday, June 05, 2008 2:36 PM Subject: RE: Changing default language in OE Spelling Check Have you installed Microsoft Office 2007 on your system? If you have, this is why you only see the French option when using the spell check in Outlook Express. The spell checker that installs with Office 2007 is not compatible with OE. Your options are to use a third party spell checker for OE or downgrade to Office 2003. I just tried the Spelling Check in Outlook Express for the first time, and it flagged almost every word in my message as misspelled, even though they were, in fact, all spelled correctly. So I went to the Spelling page of the Options dialog of the Tools menu, and discovered the cause of the problem: the Language Combo Box lists French as the one and only default. Since there is no list of other languages to choose from in this combo box, how can I change the default language to English so that the Spelling Check works properly? Thanks, or should I say "merci".
