I'm a very big fan of Outlook (note, not at all the same as outlook
express). If you need to track activities, as opposed to make
appointments, you should be using the journaling feature of outlook, not
it's calendaring feature however.

Journaling allows you to specify what you did, categorize it, and say
when it started and how long it took, or, click a button when it starts,
leave that window up, and click the "finished" button when you're done;
if you come back to the same task multiple times during the day, you
could leave the individual journal window open and start and stop the
timer as needed. It's very handy for anyone who not only needs to know
what they did and on when, but for how long as well.

The calendaring is great for setting up appoints with reminders. You
can also schedule meetings with other outlook users, even over the
internet without using an exchange server, and have it keep track of who
can come and who can't, and what other times they would prefer.

Finally, besides email of course, it has a task tracker that keeps track
of what you need to do, and if the task has a deadline, it also will
give you a reminder as it draws near.
