Hi, I use comcast as my internet provider. You do not need their software. I 
repeat you do not need their software. Don't let them install it. The person 
you talked to at comcast doesn't know what they are talking about. What 
operating system are you using? If this is your first internet connection 
you might have to create a new internet connection, but that's all.
