    I just wanted to let list members no,
    if your deciding to have winmail.exe, run on your windows7 machine,
    if you have a 64bit machine,
    you will find it almost impossible to create message filters.
    when your using jaws,
    checking and unchecking message criteria just doesn't work,
    I believe this has something to do with,
    running a 32bit program on a 64bit machine.

      first I would like to set the conversation correctly.

      the registry tweak only applies to,
      windows7, and windows mail, not, windows live mail.
      windows mail client is found on, windows vista machine.
      however, the windows mail email client is found on, windows7, however, 
one needs to perform a few registry tweaks  in order for the winmail.exe to 
function properly.
      as I indicated in previous messages, winmail.exe, is very similar to OE,
      some of my client didn't like the MSoutlook, they wanted something easy, 
so, I setup the winmail.exe, on the windows7 machine, and all is well.
      just remember, WLM, is a part of, windows live essentials,
      something way different than windows mail.
      as for MSOutlook;
      I find the following setting work quite well.
      I should mention however, these settings would apply to MSOutlook 2007,
      as for the later 2010 I can't verify.

      1, open MSOutlook;

      2, alt+v for view.

      3, down arrow until you hear;
      navigation pane sub-menu,
      right arrow to open it should be set on normal,

      the next setting is,
      alt+v,=view,
      down arrow until you hear;
      to-do-bar, sub-menu,
      right arrow to open,
      down arrow and enter on off.

      the next setting is;
      alt+v=view,
      now down arrow until you hear;
      reading pane sub-menu,
      right arrow to open,
      down arrow and enter on off.

      the next setting should be,
      alt+v=view,
      now down arrow until you hear;
      toolbars sub-menu,
      right arrow to open,
      the only item which should be checked is,
      standard.

      now one more,
      alt+v=view,
      down arrow and make sure that,
      status bar is checked.

      now when you perform a go to folder command,
      ctrl+y,
      and choose inbox for example,
      press enter;
      you will land into the message list view.
      as indicated in one of the messages, you can also use,
      f6key,
      which moves you from folder view to list view.
      hopefully, this will help some list members.

        Hi list, Daniel hear. Just wanted to say that I use windows Live mail 
the  2009 version. I am giving this info because if gary wants to try out 
windows live mail, 2009 is the most accessible with Jaws. the 2011 isn't at 
present. At least that's is in my case. 
        The main thing I don't like about this email client and if anyone can 
confirm this then I would be truely appreciated because I have never used any 
of the other email clients is the fact that when one wants to look at a contact 
name meaning tabbing to it when you have opened a message you can't arrow left 
and right because when I do I just get the  bong sound that windows vista 
makes. And also I don't know if its me but when I get email mailing list 
messages the way I start a new topic I would like to know about is that I open 
a message tab or shift tab to the to field hit the apps key and there should be 
something along of the word email go into that then hit enter on personal 
email. Well before doing any of this on the to field when I do a say all with 
jaws, I notice I get a llot of the following symboals such as greater than and 
less than are the common ones Also  I have notice that jaws repeats the email

Is this also normall?

        As you'll remember, I switched from OE to Outlook last spring. You gave 
me very useful advice at the time. for me, adjusting from tabbing to pressing 
enter + F6 soon became a matter of habit. Actually, I substitute tab for F6 in 
this process, which made the transition even easier.

        Again for me, the process of creating alternative folders for receipt 
of certain kinds of messages is more intuitive in Outlook than in OE.

        I never used the control-j command in OE because I knew which folders 
I'd assigned for incoming messages, and they were few enough to check easily. 
What I do miss in Outlook is the control-u command to search for unread 
messages. Also, if I'm in a list of messages within a folder, insert-tab 
doesn't tell me the message number where focus is placed. Neither flaw is a 
deal-breaker for me, though I'd anticipated both would be.

        what motivated me to abandon OE was that the number of messages I'd 
saved was causing loss of some data. I haven't encountered that problem in 
Outlook.

        There's another big advantage with Outlook. With OE, you can save only 
one message at a time to a text file. with Outlook, you can save an entire 
folder, or some part of it, to a single text file.

        Again, I'm writing about Outlook 2003 and making the assumption that 
these points apply to later versions.

        A user not having a problem with OE shouldn't switch. But when the time 
comes that updating is required and OE isn't readily available, Outlook has 
most of OE's features, a few drawbacks and at least two major strengths--memory 
capacity and the ability to copy many messages in a single operation to a text 
file. Other listers would add at least one more feature: Outlook's accessible 
calendar.

        I use Outlook 2007 at work for my corporate E-Mail and it is not able 
to work in the same way as OE. For example, in order to gain the list of 
messages from the folder list, you have to press the Enter key. Then to go back 
to the folders you use F6. Then again when you want to open the next folder, 
Enter again. Not as fundamental as just using the tab key back/forth. I find 
the process less useful, and in fact do not filter incoming messages to 
discrete folders, for that very reason. I don't know of an equivalent keystroke 
in Outlook 2007 to the Ctrl+j in OE, that allows me to jump to the next folder 
with an unread message. Very convenient, and I never miss anything that way.

        In Outlook 2007 I attend to all messages in the inbox and then file 
them in appropriate folders.

        Perhaps 2003 is not as pedantic as 2007?

        Outlook 2003, and presumably later versions, will do all of this. I

        I have always been able to read email with JFW and Outlook Express in 
the way I like best. I filter messages from each list into its appropriate 
folder and then start reading at the first unread message. If the message is 
worth saving, I move it to another folder for safe keeping; if not, I delete 
it, and the next message starts speaking automatically. I normally go all the 
way through the unread messages without returning to the message list, unless I 
need to move a message to a folder for saving. With the speech set as high as I 
can understand it, I can get through a lot of email in a hurry. It's also nice 
to see how many messages are being downloaded in a session, how many unread 
messages are in a folder and to be able to go to a folder with first-letter 
navigation, all of which I can do with Outlook Express.

        I hope that at least one of the email program possibilities will let me 
continue most of these practices.

        Well, I am a proud owner of windows life mail and I must say, I found 
it easier to work with than outlook express ever was. Don't take my word for 
it. Mess around with it a bit. You will get the hang of it very fast. Now, one 
complain I have is that I can't use first letter navigation. A shame really.

        David, Following your instructions, I found Windows Mail on my Windows 
7 Home Premium system. Before going to the trouble of trying to get it to work, 
however, I would like to know how well it works with JFW 12. I don't see it in 
the Supported Programs list. I do see Windows Live Mail listed, but don't 
really know how well it works either. I know that there are third-party scripts 
for Thunderbird, but haven't heard many comments about them on this list.

        While I am deciding which email program to try on Windows 7, I am still 
using my old faithful Outlook Express on my XP system.

        Any comments on the email programs I've mentioned are welcome. I am 
using JFW 12 Build 522.

        I don't know about OE, but there is no windows mail on win7. Its name 
is windows life mail. Now, I know that outlook 2007 and 2010 does work with 
windows 7. Maybe you should upgrade.

account exactly as stated in Gmail help. I receive the incoming mails, but I 
can not send anything, without any kind of error message! Any suggestions? (I 
have imported the settings from OE, and then modified it to the ones in gmail

        I really prefer to use OE, but I am switching to windows 7 soon. So I 
am looking for a well accessible counterpart for OE. Can OE be installed on 
windows 7, instead of windows mail?
