Re: Audible Verification code for Pay Pal account

Thanks for the instructions, Russell. Crazy way to do it but I'll give it a go. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Russell Solowoniuk" <RSOLOWONIUK@xxxxxxx>

Hi Bobcat,

If you're still interested in setting up an account, it can be done. When on
the page that is asking for you to type the verification code, go to
View>Source. This will open the code of the page in notepad. Do a search for
"secret.wav" and when you find it copy the entire URL, which will end with
"secret.wav to the clipboard. Then go back to the page, press CTRL+N to open
a new webpage, press CTRL+O and paste in the URL you just copied and press
enter. The correct verification should now be read out to you. If you didn't
catch it at first, just alt tab back to Real Player or whatever player you
use and press CTRL+P to play it again. I know it's a pain, but for now it's
a workaround till Pay Pal gets their act together.

HTH

Russell

I got the same message when I tried to sign up for Paypal over a month ago.
I didn't succeed in setting up an account. They probably don't know the
system is broken.

Hi Everett,

I tried your suggestion, but no luck. When I click on the link to listen
to
the verification code I hear "n I c e t r y" and typing that into the edit
field results in an error on the page. I type it without spaces as
instructed. Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Russell

Russell,

I've spoken to PayPal support about this isue and they are aware that it
is
occurring. They told me the fix is to sign up for a "Premium" account
(2nd
on the list). It doesn't cost money if you are only purchasing.

Hi,

I just checked out the Jonathon Mosen tutorial for Skype and wanted to
purchase it. My Pay Pal account has expired and I wished to open a new
account. Of course there is a place where it askes you to type the
letters
as shown below. They have a link to listen to an audio of the
verification.
To me it sounds like the audio says "nice try" as it is quite easy to
understand, however when I type in nicetry I am told that I missed the
verification code. I've tried upper case for every second letter, all
upper
case, all lower case to no avail. Does anyone have any idea what mnight
be
going on here? I recently ran into another website that had a
verification
code and the audio was the same, "nice try" without the space between the
nice and try of course.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

Russell
