hi. If you simply update your sound ccard drivers to the latest
version, the crackling noise will stop.
I would not follow the advice of the Freedom Scientific technicle
support notice in this case. The patch they send you to, unless it's
been updated from last time I saw it, can actually disable some
features on some sound cards. Simply updating your own sound card
driver will fix the problem. In the 3 years I've owned windows xp
with a soundblaster card, I've never actually experienced the
problem, although I've heard it in action.
