Jack, what's happened to you on this list seems to be a sad part of what
happens in the blind community, unfortunately! It's called the gotcha
syndrom. What it is is a big dose of envy.
If one of their fellow blind is doing something to help the blind, there are
those who are envious because they themselves aren't receiving the
recognition that they think goes along with the help that's being given. So
what do they do? They denigrate the helpful one and do everything they can
to disable him/her. I find this to be unconscienable!
We blind should be building one another up, not tearing one another down!
How much stronger our community would be if we would all work together,
forgetting the things we differ on and working diligently on those things we
do agree on!
Do not be disheartened, Jack. Do not give up on helping all your blind
friends out here. Let those who envy just keep on wallowing in their envy!

And if being very helpful makes me as you say, too self centered to be
likable, you haven't a clue as to what you're talking about. You better
know your target before you start shooting. Some people are very long on
criticism, and very short on help. And if that line hurts a little, maybe
