Hello,
Actually, that is not true. My norton was not even set to run at startup, and 
yet parts of it that you can't really disable still run. I guess the point is 
that it's faster on some computers than it is on others.
Mine, it is certainly not fast, and I detest the web interface it loads up 
because in order to view progress on the virus scans, one must refresh the page 
each time.
