In Outlook Express, JAWS uses MSAA to read the message list, and Window Eyes
uses highlighted text. The highlighted text uses OSM, and in most cases, is
dependent upon timing, so MSAA is far more reliable.
I said "in most cases." There is a bug in OE MSAA data that manififests
itself in the following manner:
When removing an item from the list, via deletion or moving it to another
folder, MSAA does not always trigger an ActiveItemChangedEvent, and so the
data is not updated, and the triggering of that event is what triggers Jaws
to announce the new data.
It is complicated, but, basically, the deletion or movement of the item
doesn't trigger an MSAA ActiveItemChangedEvent, so Jaws doesn't see the data
as having been updated, so says nothing.
Thanks,
Dennis Brown

Hi Cindy,
Hmmm, that's interesting. Don't know what to make of that. I have
Windows Media Player 10, and the problem occurs regardless of whether any
media file has been played beforehand.

Tom,
This is what happens to me after I've played something using Windows
Media
Player 11. I don't have a solution, other than to reboot my computer.

Subject: Annoying Outlook Express Problem
Hi,
I need some tips on how to solve an annoying Outlook Express problem. The
version that I'm using is
6.00.2900.5512 (xpsp.080413-2105)
with JAWS 9 build 2152.
When I'm in my message list and do a ctrl+shift+v to move a message to a
folder, then resume reading down the message list, JAWS will read the
line
that replaces the one that I just moved, but it won't read the following
one. I have to move down a line and come back up to read the next entry
in
the list. It's not a serious issue but annoying just the same. I should
point out that I've noticed this as far back as version 8. Any thoughts.
BTW, it doesn't happen with Window-Eyes, so JAWS is definitely doing
something funky.
Tom
