As some may already be aware of, I'm beginning the task of creating a
website specificly devoted to JFW. This website, when completed, will
be the first stage in what I've already named the JFW project. This
mailing list is planned to become part of that project. What does
that mean for the list? For starters, it means a move in the near
future from freelists.org to its own server, wherein options can be
determined based on the needs of the list, rather then the
restrictions set forth by the server and software used with
freelists. What does that mean to the average user, concerned with
only whether or not they can send and receive emails from the list?
Absolutely nothing, save a change in the email address to which
they'll be sending and receiving those emails. For the more
technically minded, complete details of the changes can be requested
off-list. However, to summarise, the same variety of email commands
are available to list users, as well as a much more user friendly web
interface. For complete descriptions of the features involved in the
new list software, visit http://www.gnu.org/software/mailman .
Suffice it to say, however, for a project specific to JFW, this is
perhaps one of the more JFW-friendly mailing list software packages
available. More details regarding the JFW project will be made
available as they become final. To see the list software in action,
I've set up a list specificly for the discussion of JFW-related
scripting. I encourage questions related to that field to be directed
there. For subscription and other information, visit
http://lists.the-jdh.com/listinfo.cgi/scriptography-the-jdh.com . Any
questions or comments regarding the project should please be directed
to me off-list, at james@xxxxxxxxxxx so they may be answered promptly
and without cluttering the list with what could verry quickly become
an off-topic discussion. As stated, details will be released to the
list as they are finalised.
