Geoff I'm in the UK and on keyboards here, the right alt key is marked alt gr and functions exactly the same as if the left alt key and control keys have been pressed together. For example, I can use the right alt key j to invoke Jaws as it works the same as alt control j. In other words there is only one alt key on the keyboard and it's the one on the left, which is easily operated with the left thumb. Cheers Chris -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Geoff Connor Sent: 07 August 2007 18:26 To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Alt Key Problem Good morning everyone. I'm currently using Jaws 8.0 and Windows Vista Home Premium. I am having a problem with 1 of my alt keys. Sometimes, when I go to close a program with alt-f-4, I'll press the right alt key along with the f-4 key and Jaws will say, alt-control-f-4. I thought I was having trouble with both of my alt keys until I was having trouble with the right alt key one day and press the left alt key with the f-4 key and it worked just fine. The program I had open closed just like that. My right alt key doesn't act up all the time, but when it does, it's a pain because it's the one I use most to close programs that I have open. What could be my problem? Is there something wrong with Jaws? Is there something wrong with my keyboard? Is it a windows issue? I'd sure like to get this fixed. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.
