Oops. This is a substance abuse problem I've never even heard of. Well,
maybe I remember something like this from an office job long ago, mostly
among support staff people, mostly secretaries. and that was some years
ago, before junk food and junk beverages began to be supplanted in modern
offices by a wider selection of healthier beverages and food choices. So is
the blind world a cultural retro backwater, sort of? For instance, more
blind people still smoking compared to the general population at any given
income and education level?
These were meant to be facetious comments, but now I'm actually wondering
these things, sociologically.
Also, I assume this has to do with traditional, sweetened Coke, rather than
Diet Coke? Or is it about caffeine, not the corn sweetener?
this is so interesting. Is this business with soft drink addiction and
misbehavior common among blind computer users or something? I have friends
in AA, I've known people strung out on cocaine, etc., so I'm no stranger to
addictions and the ways they can distort people's lives and personalities.
But this sounds like an interesting subcultural thing about soft drink
addiction while sitting at computers listening to jaws.
Hmm. Seems pretty benign to me, compared to that other stuff I
mentioned....
