Hi there,
unless you have had a hotmail account for a while, it won't work anyways, 
Hotmail are stopping the ability for using anything but the webmail.  All 
new users can't use OE or Outlook anymore.  As for old users, it will be 
stopped for them next year.

No, Sorry, I must not have made myself clear, I'm talking about Microsoft
Outlook 2000, not Outlook express.

Hi there Alex, Although people are talking about hotmail not functioning
with Outlook n OLe by next year but if it helps  u to setup for now? Here
are the steps to do so.. cheers..How to Setup A Mail Account in Outlook
Express for a Hotmail Email Address
1. Open the Tools menu with Alt+T.
2. Scroll down to Accounts and press Enter or type A.
3. The Internet Accounts dialog box will open and the focus is in the Mail
page. Press Tab twice to go to the Add button then press the Spacebar.
4. Another menu opens and the focus is on the Mail option. Press Enter to
open the Internet Account Wizard.
5. You will be prompted for the Display Name. Type your full name here then
press Enter. For example, Azhar Khan.
6. Screen 2 of the wizard prompts you for your Email Address. The focus is
on the prompt that says I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to
use. Press Tab once to go to the E-mail address text box. Type your e-mail
address then press Enter.
7. Screen 3 asks for E-mail Server Names. The default is HTTP for the mail
server and Hotmail for the HTTP mail service provider. Press Enter to accept
the defaults.
8. Screen 4 asks for Account Name and Password. The email address you
entered in screen 2 should be displayed in the Account Name text box. Press
Tab once to go to the Password text box. Type your password then press
Enter.
9. Screen 5 is the Final screen and the focus is on the Finish button. Press
Enter.
10. The Wizard closes and focus returns to the Internet Accounts dialog
box. Press Alt+F4 to close this dialog box.
11. Outlook Express displays the following message: Would you like to
download folders from the mail server you added? The focus is on the Yes
button. Press Enter for Yes or type N for No.
