AVG8 is problematic

Hi all,
I've upgraded Avg7.5 to the latest Avg8 and sure am much disappointed.
Although, the computer tells me that my AVG8 is up to date and scan is on, when
I need to scan a file, a document, I get only the don't send or send report
errors and not more.
After some hours of frustration I uninstalled Avg8 and reinstalled my good 7.5
Avg version.
Now, can some one have the direct link to Avast, I wish to try it; I don't
think that I'll go again onn Avg8 until meaningful changes will be done there.
Any help is much appreciated
