You could give your hard drive a name and then use first letter navigation to 
go directly to it.  Or alternatively, you could use My Computer for file 
management instead of Windows Explorer and avoid the problem.

  Heya listers,

  This maybe a silly request but when I'm scrolling up and down in windows 
explorer then My Computer and my 3 and a half floppy is first on this list it 
keeps popping up a dialog box asking to pop in a disk and all I want to do is 
go to my hard drives. Is there a way around this with still just strolling 
down? and stopping that dialog box popping up?
