Hi Geoff,
In the context of my previous message, JAWS provides key word help through
Shift F1. What standards may have been adopted by other programs, I can only
speculate on.
F1 by itself usually invokes some sort of help menu.
HTH,
James

Subject: [jawsscripts] a trivial non-script question that james has raised
in my mind?
mighty scripters. are any of you old enough to remember that once upon a
time when the world was green, and our screens apparently were too, (or so
I've thought I heard from a bird,) that, f1, rather than shift+f1, used to
invoke context sensitive help in dossy programs? and it often used to do so,
from my faded memory, even whilst over menu choices? does anyone remember
how useful that was?
my trivial question for the day is thus, why, and when, did we move from f1,
to shift+f1, being apparently now the more generic windows help keystroke.
And why, doesn't it seem to be particularly universally/well
supported in programs/controls outside microsoft products/windows OS itself?
thanks.
