Well if it's set to automatic updates it would of, and on win vista and 7
where it's all in one package it sometimes happens, I've had it happen to me
twice on win7.

Microsoft Update and other update utilities could also update your display
device driver. I wouldn't think this would be done automatically though, but
if you've done a Microsoft Update recently and gone into the HW updates then
a video device driver might have been in there.

it would seem to me that the sheer evidence that not many of us are seeing
those types of errors on a very regular basis, would suggest that this must
have something to do with your local system's usage or configuration, that
initially caused this behaviour. have you any idea at all, what that
might've been? i.e. did it start happening at one point, xx days/weeks ago?
any thoughts as to installations or uninstallations of new software or
updates, that may've occurred just prior to this happening etc? this also
might be instructivew for you to ponder?
