I'm still a little confused, what will this editing of the file actually do for me? In particular, what do voice 1 and voice 2 represent in the grand scheme of it all?

Move to your synthesizers section. for example search enu.syn for us-English 



Move to voice section

Voice1=...

Voice2=...

Last 2 digits are for volume, here 92.

Voice1=0 50 65 30 0 0 50 92

Same voice softer

Voice1=0 50 65 30 0 0 50 60

(Last 2 digits 60, previously 92 )

No there is not a scripting fix, JAWS says to control the software
synthesizer sound via Windows.
The two choices I know of are:
Get a hardware synthesizer;
Or upgrade to Windows Vista which has a sound volume applet (sndvol.exe)
that can control each individual program that utters sound.

Hi all,
Sorry for the double posting, but I am going nuts with the jaws volume. I'm 
wondering if there is a way of somehow being able to turn down the jaws
voice without turning down the Windows system volume? That is, when
listening to any kind of audio, when one wants to raise the audio as in
music or a DVD, one must also deal with the jaws volume shredding one's
eardrums because the eloquence voice is so damn loud! Is there a programming 

fix or possibly even a scripting fix?
