[jawsscripts] Re: Scripts for Internet Explorer 8

Have you attempted IE 8 with JAWS 10?

As far as I know , JAWS 9 does not support IE 8.

Dear All,

I wonder if anyone has any experience of my latest problem with IE 8? I am
running XP with JAWS 9 and have installed IE 8. When I load IE I get a
screen that says "Open master document" whenever I press the tab key. The
alt key opens the title line of the menu bar and speaks the headings "file,
edit, view, etc." but no menu contents. However, the menu bar is definitely
there because I can operate all the items by using keyboard shortcuts.

As a check, I launched Narrator which does echo all the menu items and so I
know that the problem must lie with the JAWS scripts which are reported as
the scripts for IE 8.

Using the JAWS cursor gives the top line of the screen but only some of the
text on the IE screen but nothing of the tool bars.
I have run all the utilities I can think of to make sure that I have no
virus on the system and I have removed all fragmented files to no avail.

Any ideas?

All the best,

Cearbhall

Hi David,

You can get the free standard edition of TaxAct by going to

www.taxact.com

choosing the download link and then selecting the Free Edition.

I have already made all of the modifications in the script and various
associated files that I made in past years, including the proper entry in
confignames.ini, and my renamed script file and other associated files are
being loaded. I have changed all of the references in the header and
message files to 2008. I haven't gone very far into the program, but the
prompts for fields for name, address and social security number still speak
correctly. It's the buttons that are not being recognized by JFW. If you
look through the TaxAct script, you will see that FS had to do some tricks
to get the buttons spoken in a meaningful way. These tricks seem to be
failing with the buttons in the current version of TaxAct.

Any help you can give will be appreciated. I know of at least 2 other JAWS
users who would like to continue using TaxAct.
