[jawsscripts] Re: Itunes Scripts

Hi Geoff

Good to hear from you. I would be interested to know what modifications you
made with HSC that we don't have in there already, and I will see about
including them for sure providing they are not too pixel dependent.

I think the correct official URL at this point is
www.tandt-consultancy.com/j-tunes.html

Within later versions of iTunes 7, certainly the very latest, the problem got
fixed in respect of the JAWS interaction with the highlight tracking which was
good because it means I can in the new year start some more development on this
project, time permitting. The scripts are compatible with jaws 9 and iTunes 6
and 7.

  ah. google is your friend!
  typing

  itunes scripts for jaws

into google landed me first hit off the list bang into the site of brian
  hartgen's, who sells one's he's done.
he calls it iTunes accessible interface though.

  http://tandt-consultancy.com/itunesscripts.html

They are pretty comprehensive, and the manual is amazingly carefully and
  dilligently written!
Though There are some caveats to using them that you should be aware of,
which I've been wanting to gets to discussing with brian at some point, but
we haven't connected on it yet,
  <grin.>
if you pursue/install the demo of these to trial, give me a hoy offlist and
I'll tell you anything I remember. problem is, that I'm not using them
myself under ITunes 7x, a client I have, uses iTunes 6 and I purchased them
for her, and then tweaked/added to them using hotSpotClicker, to do some
extra fansies, and so I'm better familiar with that combination. but of
course it's not one you'd wanna use. you'd wanna use ITunes accessible
interface for version 7x of Itunes now. I personally have gotten away with
using hsc, and some custom highlight changes and some scripting myself for
version 7, but nowhere near as comprehensive as what Brian's done with his
  scripts.

version 6 of itunes was less flaky than version 7 for accessibility in my
view, and I am not letting my client upgrade to ITunes 7 until she
absolutely has to, to avoid supporting that.
but, it's kinda still useable with my clunky hacks. I do wish though, oh how
i do wish, that brian and I could get together in lobbying good old apple
development, about this software, because with some tweaks from them, man,
this thing could be made (sooooo much more accessible/reliable to drive,
than it is now! do not you agree Brian?
and it's such a lovely way to buy music!
it's also got a very nice mp3 encoder built into it, which handles low bit
rate conversions very nicely as well. it might even be the fraunhofer one,
but don't quote me on that. wouldn't surprise me though if apple licenced
  the best.

Brian Did you ever gets to the bottom of that weird jaws highlight tracking
issue Brian that you mentioned was an issue under jaws7 I think? under
ITunes 7? or was that jaws 8. I forget now! I don't think they've been
touched though for a goodish while. is that right brian? I looked a month or
two back and it looked to me like it'd been a while since they'd been
  updated.
so it would be helpful to know if development has halted on this project
from Tant-Consultancy, or is awaiting further interest/fundings roling in,
  to warrant continuation?
  Any thoughts on this brian?
  Thanks.

  Geoff c.
