Also I just brought up script manager, loaded a script and compiled and
saved it here with UAC running and didn't encounter any problems at all.
What supposedly isn't working?

Rich, When you say recompiled I assume you used the command line client.

I've re compiled scripts here with UAC on and no issues either. but
haven't
actually ran script manager. FS will simply have to fix the problem if
there is one because turning off UAC is in my humble opinion not a good
idea.

Strange, why would you have to turn it off? I wrote and compiled some
scripts just yesterday with uac running, there was no prob, only, compile
complete.

I personally do not have any problems with vista what so ever.
I have it running on 2 machines here and it runs just fine.
To use the script manager, just remember to turn the UAC (user account
control) off.
There is actually a way you can compile scripts without turning it off but
it is a little complex.

Hi Jackie,
Thanks very much for this information. It is good to know that it is
possible to live with Vista where no other option is available.
Recently, I put the question out to the list asking if anyone has had any
good experience with Vista. There were several answers saying, "No.", and
none saying "Yes.". I have no actual experience with it myself.
Thanks again and happy hacking.

Jim & Greg:
1st, Jim--I wonder what issues you're having w/vista? I have xp but
recently needed to fix a vista machine. & once I figured out what was
up w/it, it wasn't at all bad. In fact, there are some features which
actually make it advantageous, such as that the sound card is
operational in safe mode, etc. So, just for the record, I think vista
is quite accessible, especially if u turn off the annoying user
control thinggie & if u understand what it's doing. Jaws has a good
tutorial on accessing vista, should any1 need that.
Greg, As for FS's info, I think the basics of scripting & the
tutorials are all on Inthane's site--I don't know of anything that fs
has on its site that isn't on the grab bag as well, but that doesn't
mean there isn't something. Look at both, get whatever u need. This
list is a good place to get started.

Hi Greg,
Welcome to the list.
The site that Jackie mentioned is good. There is also lots of info and
tutorials available from the FSDN, links available on the Freedom
Scientific
site.
Unfortunately, none of us have had much luck with Vista. XP Pro is the
operating system of choice. I gather that you have a new system and did
not
have the opportunity to compare notes with other blind programmers before
making your purchase.
We are all working on improving accessibility for Vista, but it is still
way
behind.
Happy hacking.

Subject: [jawsscripts] Introduction and a question
Hello All,
My name is Greg Wocher and I have been blind for almost six years now. I
am
using JFW 9.0 on a Windows Vista machine. I have a couple of questions:
1. Where can I get some good info on JAWS scripting?
2. When you turn the typing interrupt off even hitting the enter
key
wont interrupt speech. How can I change this so when the typing
interrupt
is turned off the enter key will interrupt speech?
3. 3. Would something like this have to be application specific or
could you create a script to modify the default typing interrupt?
Thanks for any help,
Greg Wocher
