hmmm, that's unusual, perhaps if you tried another converter or conversion
method it might stop changing them over ?

Like you, I always understood that insert v settings were temporary. As
far
as my problem is concerned, I turned off all punctuation and it still
pronounces apostrophe's when they're at the beginning of sentences. I
download news papers from newsline and also download lots of books from
bookshare. For some reason quotes get turned into apostrophe's. It's
just
annoying to listen to them.

Well, like I said, just tested it again with this message.
Hit Jaws key + V, changed the setting for 'announce header fields with
message', and hit enter and it said 'application settings saved'.
Restarted Outlook Express, and the setting stayed the same.
If it makes any difference, I'm using Jaws 8.0.1177, but who knows...

Strange.
I'm sure that some of the verbosity settings I've changed while using,
for example, MS Word, stay the same every time I load it, including
after restarting the machine etc.
What you say makes sense, but, like I said, I'm pretty sure it's not
resetting the changes as such.
Stay well

ah, that's only a temporary fix, you need to go into the configuration
manager and set it to the app file or default file to make it
permanent.

Jaws key + V while in one of those apps.
Hit the P key so until it goes down to 'punctuation', and change the
level using the space bar key.
Then hit the letter T until it comes to Table announcement, and do
the
same.
Then hit enter and it should save the verbosity settings.

Subject: [JAWSLite] the apostrophe
I seem to have a situation in which jaws continually speaks
apostrophe's.
This particularly happens when some scanned materials show quotes as
apostrophe's and therefore there are two of them in a row. I have
tried
every setting I can think of and have only found success by going to
the
dictionary and redefining the apostrophe as a space. Unfortunately,
this
replaces all apostrophe's in documents with spaces which isn't a
particularly helpful outcome.
Has anyone encountered this problem before and found a solution?
I'm using jaws 8.0.2173. Speech is controled by jaws. This problem
happens
with rtf, txt and html documents.
On another subject. I can't seem to find the place to turn off
identification of tables and lists in the configuration manager.
What am I
missing?
