Lauren,
Mindful of Gerald Levy's warning about a 7.1 bug, I've red your steps
carefully. It will maximize your chances of getting into combo boxes if you
do it exactly right, as follows:
1. Press enter on the combo box to go into forms mode, assuming you haven't
already done so on that page.
2. Press alt-down arrow. The down arrow key is critical here. Not the up,
left or right arrow. It must be the alt key together with the down arrow.
3. Then arrow up or down, but not left or right, to read your choices.
If that doesn't work on a given combo box, I believe you need to infer the
problem is in the version you have.

Hi, When I visit various web sites, if I press enter to turn on forms mode
to hear the selections in a combo box, sometimes Jaws reads my available
options, while other times Jaws says nothing and the arrow keys do not move
up or down. Still at other times, if I down arrow to hear an option, the
page jumps and moves as if I had decided to select the first available
option.
I have tried pressing alt plus left, right, down and up arrow keys, but Jaws
says nothing. When this happens, the only way I can hear my options and
choose the one I want is to go into Jaws mode and then press the left mouse
key on the selection I want to make.
I am using Jaws 7.1, the latest in 7 that is available and Internet Explorer
7.
Is there any way I can get my combo boxes to behave consistently where I can
hear my options before selecting the one I want?
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Lauren
