Hi,
I believe that Lavasoft who developed Ad-Aware came up with a new
version which is not accessible with Jaws. I have no idea if it is
completely graphics or whatever change that they made. I do know that
Ad-Aware that we all have been using was made possible by someone who
wrote scripts for it. Currently, there are no scripts for the new version.
If anyone else on the list can shed some more light on this, please
by all means let us hear from you.

I am just wondering why ad-aware just stopped working. What did they
do to make it not work with jaws

Hello Jim,
The following I got from another Jaws users list. The information
will enable you to continue to use Ad-Aware a little while longer. I
followed the instructions outlined below and I was able to update
the definitions successfully.
Another spyware software to check out is Super anti-Spyware. You can
find it at:
http://www.superantispyware.com/
They have a free version which I downloaded and ran and it is
completely acessible with Jaws. I do believe that you have so many
days for it to run in the background to detect any spyware like
Spyware Blaster. However, this should go away after the trial
period, but you should continue to update and scan for spyware. At
least, this is my understanding.
Hope this helps,.
Lennie

Please accept our sincere apologies for delays on developing our new product
so that it is compatible with your needs. As you know, we are addressing the
issue this year.
In the meantime, you are welcome to continue to use Ad-Aware SE Personal for
as long as we are able to provide updates to Ad-Aware SE's threat database.
Lavasoft plans to continue to provide updates to the Ad-Aware SE threat
database well into this year.
In order to continue to keep Ad-Aware SE Personal updated, you will need to
perform manual updates when new Definitions Files are released. Here are the
instructions for performing a manual update for Ad-Aware SE.
- Close Ad-Aware SE.
- Download the latest Definitions File in ZIP format here
http://download.lavasoft.com/public/defs.zip
and save the file to a temporary location.
- Unzip the contents of the file either with a ZIP utility or with the
built-in support in Windows to the Ad-Aware SE installation directory, which
usually is
"C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE\".
- Open Ad-Aware SE.
Confirm that the latest Definitions File is installed by checking the
"Initialization Status" in the main program window.
Best regards,
Erin Earley

Since Add aware no longer works with jaws, what should I use and
where to get it? and is there any trouble in setting it up or using it?
