[JAWSLite] Re: loading Jaws scripts

Hi David Maynard and Matthew Horspool,

Thanks for your rplies on this question. I have tried out your suggestions and made them work.

The script in the "default.jss" file uses the following format:
ScriptAndAppNames("your application")
except that instead of the constant string in the parentheses there is a variable. If I use this script, in my application the variable name is not recognized. If I put the string in the parentheses, it does work. I haven't investigated any subtle differences between David's and Matthew's formats.

Thanks again!

In the default.jss file there is a script called ScriptFileName. You can
copy it and paste it into your application file. With the newer versions
of jaws that may be all you need to do.

A quick and dirty way is a script like this:

Script ScriptFileName()

SayString ("your application")
EndScript
The key stroke for ScriptFileName is insert+ Q so it will override the
default script.

Hello David,

I first noticed some while ago that Insert+Q sometimes says that the
default files are
loaded when files for the current application are in fact active.

Could you please elaborate on what is meant by "to put the ScriptFileName
script into the file."

I have created JAWS scripts for a couple of applications that I have
developped myself, and I suspect it is those applications in which the
default
scripts are announced in error.

Exactly what should which script file include so that Insert+Q announces
correctly?

All the best,

The correct scripts may be loading. If the script writer did not take
the
time to put the ScriptFileName script into the file the insert + Q will
announce the default scripts even though the correct application scripts
are loaded.

Whe you are running the application press insert + F2 and arrow down to
script manager and press enter. the top couple of lines will let you
know
if the default scripts are really loaded.

I've got some applications that when I run them, the associated Jaws
script files aren't being loaded. One is for Sound Taxi which I am
trying
out before I buy. I have the Jaws scripts which I installed according to
the accompanying install procedure into my Personal settings. But
insert-Q
tells me that default Jaws settings are loaded. I then checked another
small application I use a lot for which I had saved my own .jcf
settings.
Again, insert-Q says jaws default settings are loaded, not the
application
specific files.

How do I get the correct script files to load in Jaws 8? They are all
there when I explore my Jaws settings folders.
