Reid,
Okay. I'm eating my words. Although the problem seemed to be fixed yesterday,
it is back today. So, you're right in that the fixes didn't work. Back to the
drawing board.

Yes, the problem has stopped. Did you make sure to turn language detection
off in the default JCF file, not just in maybe the Jaws or another aplication
jcf file? That was the fix that fixed it for me.

Hi Jean,
Are you sure the problem has gone away?
I have the same problem and had already done those things suggested by don
and still have the problem.
My messages start speaking after I have hit alt+shift+tab. After I have
hit this key combo, frequently, when I hit alt+tab, I hear the stupid message.
This problem started right after I upgraded to JFW 8.0.2107.
Your notes reminded me that I should do something about and I've just now
sent a note to JFW Tech Support.

Don,
That got rid of it. I changed detect languages in the default Config, and
it worked. I never would've associated that setting with this problem.
Thanks much.

Hi again Jean,
You might also check one more thing: press Insert 6 for the JAWS
Configuration Manager & then press Shift Control D for the default. Now, press
alt s for the Set Options Menu & cursor down twice to Text Processing & press
Enter. Then, Tab around 6 times until you hear Detect Languages & uncheck that
option. Then, press Enter since the default button is OK. Finally, save this
with Control s.
Hope this helps,

Hello Don,
I checked in both places and turned off any display of language bar
items. I also changed the default in Regional and Language Options to English
United States. But still, when I alt-tab into the Jaws window, I get the
"setting keyboard layout to English Canada." The change in Jaws you suggested
required a restart, but I still have this annoying message.
Any other ideas?
Jean

Hi Jean,
It sounds as if Jaws is reading information from the system tray.
One
option is to remove the language icon from the desktop, in which case
Jaws shouldn't read it. To do this, go to Control Panels, then to
Regional and Language Options, then to Languages Tab. Then, select
the details button. This will open the Text Services and Input
Languages screen. Select
the Language Bar and deselect Show the Language Bar on the Desktop.
That should resolve your issue.
Jaws also has a setting to disable the language bar in basic
settings windows parameters.
Either way, this should do it.
Hope this helps,
Don Moore (from New Brunswick)

Subject: [JAWSLite] keyboard layout message
Ever since installing Jaws 8, there is an annoying message that
comes up as I alt-tab between applications. It seems that when I alt-tab into
the Jaws window, I hear "setting keyboard layout to English Canada". When I
alt-tab out or go to the start menu, I hear "setting keyboard layout to English
United States".
I don't see a reason why keyboard layout needs to be changing, and
I'd like to get rid of this. Does anyone know where such a setting might be?
