My mistake, actually Word 2000 didn't have the task pane if I remember right.
However, try setting your view choice to print layout instead of normal view.
Also try some of the other things I suggested.
Take care.

The following suggestions assume that you are using Microsoft Word.
Check to see if you are working in print layout view. Use alt-V for view
menu and then use the down arrow key to see if print layout is checked. if
JAWS does not say Checked then press enter.
In addition to maximizing Word you might try maximizing the document with
Alt-Dash followed by X.
The task pane or another active toolbar might be obscuring the part of the
window that you are not having read to you. Go under view and see if the task
pane is active. If it is checked then try pressing enter on the menu choice to
uncheck it and see if that makes a difference or not. I don't use Word 2000
any more but when I did the task pane did interfere somewhat. Also check for
other toolbars that might be obscuring part of the screen. Again press Alt-V
for view and find the toolbars submenu with the down arrow key. Right arrow
into the submenu and arrow down to see which toolbars are checked. If there is
one checked that you don't need at the time then press enter on it to uncheck
it. Then go back into the view menu and uncheck other toolbars that you are
not using at the time. You want to leave the standard and formatting toolbars
active, and of course others that you need for the work you are doing in your
current session.

When doing a line read back Jaws is leaving off part of the last sylable of
words. I've refreshed and maximized the screen. Any suggestions? Thanks,
Judith
