[JAWSLite] Re: jaws home

Last year I wanted a second computer for audio-related recording and production. All the mid-range and high end computers had Windows Pro or Media Center. Only the low end machines with wimpy processors and relatively small hard drives were selling with home. Yes, I could have purchased a custom-built PC, but I could upgrade to JAWS professional for just as much. While I didn't like spending the extra money, I realized that going forward I needed a screen reader that can work on essentially any computer, not just a subset of computers at the store and no computers in any office that I am aware.

I funded the JAWS upgrade by applying to several credit cards. I received hundreds of dollars in gift cards as a promotion, which FS accepted although with a bit of reluctance at first. My upgrade cost was zero as the CC companies and their juicy deals paid for the upgrade to JAWS Pro. Now, I pay just the increased SMA charge.

I'm happy to have a computer with the power, speed and capacity I need rather than accept a crappie PC with XP Home.

Subject: [JAWSLite] jaws home

I thought it would be a good idea to have a backup box. Just in case mine stopped working and I needed sighted help to get it started and nobody was around. I told my friend that I had windows xp home sp2 and he said he could send me a machine. Well we put jaws on it yesterday and jaws said "this product will not work with windows professional". So I find out we have windows pro on that system. I don't need windows professional or want to buy the expensive jaws license for it. It is just a back up. Any ideas.
