alright , and sorry about getting the names reversed, lol, focusing to
much on the trouble and not enough on the E mails.
I'd also go through and see what all you have in the system tray running,
and the third thing I would do is get the black viper tweaks (if your
running XP) off of my grab bag site (URL is under my name)and use the
first set of tweaks, the safe ones, to eliminate as much as possible from
the running services on your computer, which you get at those in the
control panel, administrative tools, services.
if your on vista, a note 2 Gb of ram is required, not just 1 to even be
close to truly useable with a screen reader, and if the folks you got it
from don't know that they need to be told!
I hope that one of us can hit on the right thing, since I know what a pain
it is to have a comp lag like that.
take care, and good luck,
inthane

Hi Inthane.
Thanks for this. I've had the laptop for 4 weeks. It is an Asus laptop
and was bought through NCBI Irelande who did all the installations for
me. I'll try what you suggest and see what happens.
Damien.

when you say new, what are we talking here, I use jaws 8 and word/office
pro 2002, and experience none of the trouble your speaking of unless the
document is very large and I have had my comp up for over 6 hours. my lt
is a 2.88 GHz single processor with XP and 1 GB of ram.
so when you say new, how long have you had it, and if you can remember,
in what order did the applications get loaded, because Damien's response
was the first thing that came to my mind, the second is that something
didn't load correctly, with everything except word 2007, I know that
they should work just fine. and if you had this issue with 2003 also I
would be very suspicious of the jaws load up!
try opening a word document, and when it has focus re-initialize the
word scripts by hitting insert and control and escape and see if it
doesn't read better after that.

Hello everyone.
I'm using jaws 8 with word 2007 and have to wait a few secondes for

I'm scroling through a document line by line, I press the down arrow
key and then have t wait a few seconds before jaws speaks the text on
that line. Come to think of it, I also had this problem when I used
word 2003. Does anyone know of a way to speed the jaws response time
up?
