Hi Deidre
At least on my Aspire One, the shift keys are larger than the rest of the
keys. However, the right shift key is the third key from the bottom on the
very right edge. The question mark- forward / key is where you would expect
it to be to the right of the period. The top row of keys from left to right
are the escape key, the 12 function keys, the printScreen key, the Pause
key, the Insert key and the Delete key on the very right top. Since the
function keys don't have a gap every 4 keys like a full sized keyboard, it
takes some getting used to to reach the right key when typing. The bottom
row of keys from left to right are the control key, FN key, Windows key, Alt
key, space bar, Alt key, Application key, Control key, left arrow, down
arrow and the right arrow key on the very right. The three keys on the
second row from the bottom on the right above the arrow keys and below the
right shift key are the page up key, up arrow key, and the page down key on
the very right. To press the home key, you hold down the FN key (second
from the left on the bottom row) and press the page up key. To press the
end key, you hold down the FN key and press page down. Just above the page
up, up arrow, page down keys is the right shift. Above the right shift key
is the Enter key. Above the enter key is the backspace key right below the
insert and delete keys. On the left side of the keyboard, above the control
key is the left shift key, then the caps lock key, then the tab key, , then
the grov key and the escape key on the top. The rest of the keys are
standard .
You can always change JAWS to use the desktop instead of the laptop keyboard
layout. Go to the JAWS Options menu and choose Basics. Then tab to the
Keyboard Layout combo box and change it to Desktop and press enter.
However, using the desktop layout might be difficult without an external
numeric keypad. You can use the Aspire One keyboard as a numeric keypad by
holding down the FN key and using some of the letters for the right hand,
but I don't remember exactly which letter keys do what. But with the
desktop layout, you would need to hold down the insert key, top row right,
while using the keyboard numeric keypad with your right hand. It took me a
while to get used to the laptop keyboard layout, but I am starting to like
it quite a bit.

Subject: [JAWSLite] help with the Acer, Aspire One Series
Does anyone have a key layout list and any applicable JFW shortcut key tips
for the Acer Netbook - Aspire one series?
? I can't locate the user's guide on the actual computer and I'm having a
hell of a time figuring out where everything is such as backspace, insert
key. I'm hoping there is a choice to use a desktop layout even though it is
a Netbook. I might have to plug in a little numeric keypad to help me do
what I need to do before I figure out the key layout as it stands.
Thanks.
Deidre
