[JAWSLite] help with .PDF doc

Hi all,
I have two .PDF docs that jaws can't read. Jaws render them as blank documents 
but my wife can read the content of the files. I am using jaws 10 with vista 
ultimate. Any suggestion of how I can get the text extracted from these docs? 
Currently, I don't have an OCR device.
